Our History

The Communication Student's Association was established in the early 2000's, following a student referendum.

Prior to this, all student-life affairs in the Department of Communication fell under the governance of the Student Association of the Faculty of Arts (SAFA). Seeing as the Communications program accounted for nearly one-third of all students in the Faculty of Arts with unique and diverging needs from the rest of the Art programs, student leaders in the Communications program organized a referendum to deferate from SAFA. This vote passed successfully with recognition from the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa. This vote allowed for a more representative and independent federation to advocate on behalf of all Communication Students. Since then, the CSA has formed its own student traditions and culture which includes exciting events like CommProm and our signature Wine and Cheese Networking Event.
